Once again...

Arsha Ravi

The death of 19-year-old Anamika has once again shocked society. She was a first-year BSc Nursing student at Dr. Chandramma Dayananda Sagar College in Karnataka and was found dead in her hostel room.

It is common for students to stay away from home in pursuit of quality education. However, how much do we really think about the mental stress they face? According to her classmates, Anamika was experiencing severe mental distress.

On Tuesday night, when she did not come out even after dinner time, her friends grew concerned. When they opened the door, they found her dead.

It is crucial to raise awareness about mental health in hostels and educational institutions. Students need support and care to cope with stress.

Education alone is not enough—students' mental well-being is equally important. Every educational institution must ensure a safe and supportive environment for students' mental health. Increasing awareness, providing support, and taking necessary measures to prevent tragedies like Anamika’s death is our collective responsibility. Ensuring a safe future for our children is a duty that belongs to each and every one of us.
